Welcome to BoatProject, your place for managing all the projects, tasks, documents, and notes pertaining to maintaining and improving your boat! What follows is a quick introduction to get you started creating projects and managing tasks using the mobile-friendly version of BoatProject.
Almost everything is automatically saved, so there is no save button except in a few instances.
The hamburger (the three lines in the top right) is your menu.
The filter is used for sorting and organizing your information for that screen.
The large Plus in the lower right corner is how you add items depending on the screen. For example, from the My Projects screen, clicking on that button will add a project. From the Notes screen, clicking on that will add a note, and so on.
The editors will allow you to add pictures directly into the task or project description. This is especially handy for recording the part or issue so that when you are away from the boat, you can see what you are working with. Clicking into the "description" field will open the editor. Clicking out of the editor will save automatically.
The product was designed with the thinking that you use your phone when on the boat to create Projects/tasks. Take pictures to embed inside the task for when you are not on the boat. When at home, use the desktop version for when you are researching how to complete the task; embed links to videos, add pictures of the replacement part, etc. to the task. When you return to the boat and are ready to work on that task, everything is available in the app on your phone.
This intro references menus in the mobile version. To access menus in the mobile version, click the "hamburger" to see the navigation menu. Click the funnel to get the filter options referred to.
There is a feedback link on every page. Use this to send us a note for when something is going well, not so well, or you have an idea to make it better.
Navigation:
My Tasks:
This lists all of YOUR tasks (tasks assigned to you), regardless of vessel. You can organize them in various ways using the filter criteria at the top. You can also mark tasks complete directly from this screen as well as re-assign or delete them via the 3 dots at the far right.
To access the project and task, click on the task and the appropriate project will open up with all the tasks for that project.
My Projects
Every task needs a project to "house" it. This screen lists all of YOUR projects. It can be sorted via the filters at the top of the screen. Your projects will organize in columns based on the filter criteria, and down based on Due Date. Clicking on the will add a project. You can search to see if there is already a project template for the project you are looking to do, or create a blank project from scratch. Clicking on the "See More" will take you into the project to add/edit tasks. From this page you can directly assign a project, change the due date, or check/uncheck the completed check.
Vessels
This page shows your vessels and any vessels that you are "crew" on. Clicking on the vessel will take you to vessel details and allows you to see ALL projects, notes, etc. attached to that vessel even if not assigned to you. Again, the will add a vessel, so you can maintain your dinghy or other boats. A vessel with a crown indicates that you own that vessel; ones without a crown means you are a crew member of that vessel.
Library
This allows you to upload manuals and documents so they are available to you wherever you are. There is also a public library of documents that others have "Made Public" to share that you can find through a search.
Notes
This is a place to keep notes that may not fall into the information built into the vessel. Weather notes, resources, etc. are some of the things that you can save so they are accessible. You can also pin a note so it stays on top for those that you need to use frequently.
Account
This is where you can check your subscription version, upgrade/downgrade, and sign out. There is also a place to copy your userID which you will need if you are going to be crew (and get access to) someone else's vessel. You can also update your email and password here.
Those are the basics for using BoatProject. If you have any questions or issues you can submit a ticket or email support@boatproject.com. Happy boating!
