How to add projects and tasks to BoatProject

2. How to Add Projects and Tasks

If you prefer video, click here to see a quick video tutorial. https://youtu.be/LZ5cb6UCkf0

To add a project, click on the My Projects menu item up top.
This will bring you to a screen showing all of your projects i.e. projects assigned to you.  If this is your first time on this screen, this will likely be empty.

To add a new project, click the large blue plus button in the lower right.

This will open a window which will allow you to specify your vessel. You have the option of adding from a template or from scratch.  Note: don't forget to select a vessel or you cannot create the project.

If you create a project from a template, you can choose the template from the list OR you can also choose a category to help narrow your search.  You can also type search criteria in the Search box.
Clicking on a template/project will display it in the right pane so you can preview what it looks like. Once you find something you like, you will be able to copy it to your projects at which point you can edit it as you wish. For example, you might want to delete some tasks and add others.

The right pane has a scroll bar so you can scroll to the bottom of the template/project.  The far right window scrollbar will take you down to the Copy Template button.

Click the Copy Template button to create your project.  This will create a new project and take you inside the product details.  This screen shows all of the tasks and their descriptions.  The large blue + in this screen will create tasks.

You can only create tasks from this projects screen. The My Tasks menu option only shows tasks assigned to you.
Once you add a task, scroll down to enter any notes and description.  This is where you can put pictures, links, and other notes.  Many times this is done with your phone when you are on the boat.

Clicking on the person icon will allow you to assign the task. Clicking on the calendar allows you to set a due date.

Once you click out of that box, it is automatically saved.

If you click on the checkbox, this will mark the task complete or not-complete. Note: if a task is marked complete, you cannot edit it. To edit, simply click on the check to make it "uncompleted".  Once you ard done editing, you can mark it complete again.

After assigning the task to yourself, click the My Tasks menu option.
You should see all the tasks assigned to you. Note: if you just assigned tasks from the project, it might take several seconds for the page to auto-refresh and show those tasks.
From this screen, you can reassign the task, delete it, or mark it complete (by clicking the checkbox). To reassign or delete the task, click on the three dots at the far right.

This screen also lets you sort and search using the top filter options.
If you want to look at a specific task, you can click on the project and it will open up the project in which that task resides.
